Church Shoes

In November, 2010, a St. John Neumann Church parishioner and owner of Palos Verdes Shoes, provided to donate over 4,500 sets of new shoes to St. John Neumann Church to circulate to the bad. Intuitively we stated, "yes," and it's been an annual event since. The 2nd long years St. John Neumann Church obtained over 5,400 and this year, 3,600 sets of ladies's new shoes. The shoes normally show up in November, yet this year they arrived on Dec. 12, the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

St. John Neumann Church gave the footwears to Orange County Rescue Mission, Orange County Child Abuse Prevention Center, Serve The People in Santa Ana, The Illumination Foundation in Irvine, to Corazon, to an orphanage in Ensenada, to the farm workers in Mecca, California (using Maria Jose Garcia at the Catholic Diocese of San Bernardino), and-- with the help of parishioner Donald Bollella-- to Calexico, Mexicali and suburbs.

With extremely brief notice and just 2 days to obtain and circulate the shoes, a "call to action" walked out to St. John Neumann Church ministries and The Knights of Columbus. Needless to say, they answered quickly.

Our genuine thanks aims to St. John Neumann Church parishioners Derek Bollella, Donald Bollella, Roy Caffrey, , Bob Kawalek, Dan Kukla, Mariann Long, Bill Malecki, Jackie Marquez, Carl Natalizia and Ron Dorres of the Child Abuse Prevention Center for stepping up to do the hefty work.

Many individuals will have a merrier Christmas this long years due to you and your generous hearts.

Finally, we give thanks to Our Lady of Guadalupe for enabling St. John Neumann Church to be the instrument for offering her presents to Christ's children on her feast day and so near Christmas day.
